A recent study published in the journal Physical Therapy makes the link between weakness of the deep neck flexor muscles and chronic neck pain. The study found that strengthening of these muscles significantly improved subjects ability to hold their heads in a more upright position while working at the computer. And … an improved upright position reduces stress on tissues that cause pain when under stress or stretch.
